Parwaz-E-Junoon

Parwaz-E-Junoon

Writer: Kashif Nisar
Director: Kashif Nisar
Cast: Maj. Zahid Bari, Maj. Khalid Maooz, Erum Akhtar

This film covers only one out 100s of stories where Army Aviation did wonders during operation Rah-e-Raast. Based on a true incident when 2 helicopters (Bell and Cobra) covering an Army convoy experienced some heavy fires from one side of a mountain. Soon the pilots found out an 800 kg heavy 14.5 mm anti aircraft gun installed at one of the mountains. It could have proved a big devastation for Pakistani forces. So, both of them decided to do an expedition never heard of before. Instead of trying to destroy the gun they actually managed to lift the gun with the help of three soldiers on the helicopter and brought it back to their base.

The hallmark of this film is the real Aviators playing as three pilots. Maj. Zahid Bari (the one flying the Bell during the actual expedition) has beautifully enacted his own role; the character of Capt. Ahmad Junaid (the one flying the Cobra) has been played by Major. Khalid Maooz while Capt. Nauman Naveed is the third Aviation officer playing the role of MI-17 pilot.
