All's well between SRK & Sallu’s family

Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan's tiff seems to be going on forever.

However, it looks like their families have decided to not fan the issue any further and continue being cordial with each other.

Just recently, we heard Gauri Khan and Salman Khan talking to each other at Sohail Khan's birthday bash and now, we spotted SRK warming up to Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora Khan at a recent event.

At the 56th Idea Filmfare Awards that was held on Saturday night, Arbaaz and Malaika were greeted with a warm hug by none other than Salman's friend-turned-foe Shah Rukh. And it didn't stop at that, before going to their seats, Arbaaz, SRK and Malaika talked for a good while.

Later into the award function when Arbaaz' 'Dabangg' won in the Best Film category and he was being chased by the paparazzi for a byte, the Khan rushed through his moment of glory. And while we were wondering about why Arbaaz was in such a rush, we learnt that Shah Rukh and Madhuri were scheduled to perform just then. Guess Arbaaz didn't want to miss cheering for SRK.

With this new development, we once again hope that the two warring Khans reunite soon... Inshaallah!

Kings Speech gets new Oscars boost

LOS ANGELES: British historical drama "The King's Speech" got yet another boost to its Oscars hopes Sunday, winning its second top prize in 24 hours at Hollywood's latest awards ceremony.

The movie about King George VI's stammer won best ensemble prize and best actor for Colin Firth at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards, while Natalie Portman won best actress for her role in ballet-themed thriller "Black Swan."

The awards for Firth and Portman are their latest for those roles, and seem to cement them as frontrunners for best actor and actress Oscars.

Others honored at the SAG awards -- chosen by actors for their peers -- included Briton Christian Bale for best supporting actor and Melissa Leo for best supporting actress, both in boxing movie "The Fighter."

The latest triumph for "The King's Speech" came a day after its director Tom Hooper won best director at the Directors Guild of America (DGA) awards on Saturday night.

The understated royal movie, also starring Helena Bonham Carter and Australian Geoffrey Rush -- is nominated in 12 categories for next month's Oscars show, the climax of Hollywood's annual awards season.

Blockbuster Facebook movie "The Social Network" was an early favorite for Oscars glory, and came out on top at the Golden Globes earlier this month, taking four prizes to a disappointing single gong for "The King's Speech."

But insiders point out that the Globes are chosen by a few dozen foreign journalists at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), whereas all other awards are voted on by those in the industry.

The Oscars, chosen by some 6,000 members of the illustrious Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will unveil their laureates this year on February 27.

Firth, accepting his SAG award Sunday, underlined the value he attached to being honored by his fellow actors.

"Until today, I would say probably if ever I felt I had a trophy which told me that something's really happening for me, it was my SAG card, you know, to be a part of this extraordinary collective," said Firth, accepting his award.

"Growing up in England, it's not something you expect to see in your wallet, really," he said. "And so it has this glow, and I used to flash it around hoping it would get me female attention, entry into nightclubs..."

"And it didn't, not a bit. I'd like to thank, looking at whose here, I'd like to thank security for letting me into the building," he joked.

Hrithik & Madhavan share cold vibes
Hrithik Roshan and R Madhavan walked in the venue around the same time. The two stars were just a few steps away from each other but didn't even greet each other. We wonder the reason behind this cold vibe!

New hottie in Ayan's life!
Ayan Mukherjee walked in with Katrina Kaif's younger sister Isabelle. While all eyes were on the gorgeous lady who looks very similar to her elder sibling, Ayan took the lead and started introducing her to everyone. Hmm... we see something hot brewing there!

SRK welcomes Arbaaz-Malaika
Arbaaz Khan has just walked in with his sexy arm candy Malaika Arora. Talking about Dabangg and Salman he said, "Salman is not here tonight as he is shooting. And it doesn't matter to me if he wins or not. For me he is the winner. And then we have got so many nominations so it's an achievement in itself. We are not here to applaud just ourselves but also applaud other's work from the film fraternity."

We asked Malaika what can we look forward to after Munni and she said, "These things are not planned. They just happen impromptu."

Once inside the auditorium, Arbaaz and Malaika were greeted by Shah Rukh Khan who hugged them very warmly.

Preity looks gorgeous in red sari
Preity Zinta is looking beautiful in a red sari designed by Manish Malhotra. The actress is excited and is cheering for all her friends nominated this year. When asked who her pick is for the Best Actor Award, Preity says, "Whoever is best will win." Now that's as diplomatic as Preity can get who doesn't want to choose between SRK and Salman, both of whom she is very close to.

I look as gorgeous as the Filmfare Trophy: Mugdha
Mugdha Godse walked the red carpet in a gold gown designed by Swapnil Shinde and said, "I am the most gorgeous tonight. I myself look like the Filmfare trophy!" The lady also posed standing like the trophy. We wonder who will get to take this one home!

Hottest Dhobi in town
The hottest Dhobi in town Pratiek Babbar has arrived with his aunt. While he gets to take it easy this year, Pratiek is expecting a lot of nominations next year for his recently released film 'Dhobi Ghat'.

SRK, Madhuri to perform at Filmfare Awards
SRK and Madhuri's combined act is going to be the highlight of the evening. Excited to shake a leg with his favorite actress, Shah Rukh always wanted to learn the trademark steps from the song 'Chane Ke Khet Mein'. Madhuri will finally help him to get the steps right on this song as a part of their act. Don't miss their performance tonight!

I'm sleeping with the Black lady tonight: Prachi Desai
Prachi Desai is very excited as this is her first Filmfare nomination. When we asked what will she do if she wins tonight, the young actress couldn't hide her excitement and said, "I am going to sleep with the Black lady tonight."

Looking forward at 2011, Prachi is excited about her film 'Joker' and she also asks us to wait and watch as a big announcement is coming up soon.

Big Night for Priyanka
Priyanka Chopra will be performing on hit numbers of Madhuri Dixit as a tribute to the dancing diva. Expect everything from Dhak Dhak to Mera Piya Ghar Aaya and much more... Hope Priyanka gets her steps right as Madhuri will be watching her performance tonight.

Excitement builds as stars land on red carpet
The sexiest guest on red carpet till now happens to be the bubbly actress Genelia D'Souza. She is wearing a backless purple Versace gown with high slits which is making her look stunning and sensuous. Interestingly Sridevi who is wearing the same coloured gown is looking outstandingly seductive in her new lean avatar.

It's the first time after marriage that Mrs. Avantika Imran Khan has walked the Filmfare red carpet. The weight loss has worked wonders on the biwi and she is looking gorgeous in a peach dress. However, the lady didn't have hubby dear accompanying her. And no no, Imran Khan isn't giving the Awards night a miss. He will be actually taking centre stage with Ranbir Kapoor as the host of the grand event. The young Khan is already in and has been rehearsing his act with Ranbir.

Pakistani artist Ali Zafar has arrived on the red carpet along with his beautiful wife. While the singer made his acting debut last year with 'Tere Bin Laden', he is rooting for Ranveer Singh in the Best Debut Actor category. Ranveer Singh made his debut with Yash Raj Film's 'Band Baajaa Baaraat'.

Shriya Saran has arrived looking pretty as ever. The lady is hoping to have a great time at the Filmfare night. Though she didn't have a Bollywood release in the past year, she is looking forward to Deepa Mehta's Midnights Children in 2011.

Neha Dhupia has come to the Filmfare Awards after six long years. The actress who is looking hot as ever in a black & grey dress doesn't have any hot arm candy with her this time around. She has walked in with her mother instead, proving her single status! Talking about her fashion tip, Neha says, "I think its best to keep it very simple especially if you know that you'll have to be seated in an auditorium for four long hours."

It is surprising to see Kalki Koechlin arrive on the red carpet all alone. She made a grand entry last year with boyfriend Anurag Kashyup and certainly Kalki is missing Anurag this year. Expectedly, she is cheering for 'Udaan' produced by Anurag Kashyup, which has received maximum nominations this year. When asked about her plans on this Valentines Day she says, "We both are shooting separately. Nevertheless we will connect through Skype".

Debutant actress Sandeepa Dhar is looking pretty in her lavender strapless gown. But before she could flaunt her lovely gown on the red carpet some guest stepped on it and the actress lost her balance. Thankfully the 'Iss life Mein...' actress regained her balance in a second. A huge fan of Hrithik Roshan, Sandeepa said, "I am cheering for Hrithik tonight and wish that he wins the award for Guzaarish."

Dabangg director Abhinav Kashyap has just arrived. The director, who hit the bull's eye with his very first film, is hoping that his film bags a few awards at the most awaited Filmfare Awards night. Talking about the year 2011, Kashyap reveals that he has no release coming up in the coming year but he says, "Wait for 2012. I'll have a release then. I am not sure what kind of film it will be and on what subject. But I'll definitely have a release." Ask him about Dabangg 2 and pat come the reply, "Most definitely, I will be directing the Dabangg sequel."

Will Vidya win the award again?
Vidya Balan, who has three Filmfare Awards in her kitty, confessed at a recent news conference that she was very nervous when she climbed the stage to get the award. This year, she has been nominated for the Best Actress for her role in Ishqiya. Will Vidya win the award again? Well, you'll just have to wait for a little while to know that and more...

Sonu Nigaam, the man with the golden voice, will be mesmerizing one and all with a dhamakedaar live performance. And do we get to listen him croon the latest hit Main Jat Yamla Pagla Deewana?

While celebs make headway to Yashraj Studios to attend the 56th Idea Filmfare Awards, Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit have already reached the venue for a final rehearsal for their special act. Hottie Priyanka Chopra is here too, getting ready to put up a sizzling act.

It's SRK vs Salman
Salman Khan's film Dabangg and Shahrukh Khan's film My Name Is Khanhave bagged maximum number of nominations in 56th Filmfare Awards. Both the films will fight for Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor in a Leading Role categories.

Highlight of the evening
Like every year, 56th Idea Filmfare Awards also has loads of surprises and glamour in store. One of the highlights of the evening includes, Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit's sizzling performance. One of the most cherished onscreen couple will surely bring back the good old memories.

Cliched yeah, but tonight is the mother of all nights. It's the 56th Idea-Filmfare Awards nite and Bollywood is in a state of tizzy. Brazil fashion week kicks off

SAO PAULO: Despite the arrival of some of the biggest names in the fashion and entertainment world, all eyes at the Winter 2011 fashion week that kicks off here are a new runway star: model Lea T.

Representing French brand Givenchy, the Brazilian model has become a rising figure on the global fashion stage thanks to high-profile appearances on the European market in recent months.

Lea T. now returns home to grace the fashion week runway for the first time as a leading figure, promising to be one of the most photographed models at the event in the hands of famed designer Alexandre Herchcovitch.

Latin America's top fashion event, the 30th, twice annual Sao Paulo Fashion Week promises to showcase 31 home brands, and set the stage for next winter's collection.

Among the highlights is the runway appearance walk of top model Gisele Bundchen, the Brazilian beauty who has become the world's top-paid model, who is set to show off the latest creations of the brand Colcci.

Also at the event is US film star Ashton Kutcher, who arrived in the country late Thursday alongwith his actress wife Demi Moore.

"I'm ready for Brazil. Is Brazil is ready for me?" Kutcher wrote on his hugely popular Twitter account ahead of his arrival here.

Billionaire heiress Paris Hilton was also expected to take to the runway to model Brazilian fashion brand Triton, and singer Christina Aguilera was set to attend to promote a new clothing bearing her name.

Sao Paulo, which has held the fashion week since in 1996, has emerged as a key fixture on the fashion calender, showcasing mold-breaking designs from Brazil's top fashion houses Ellus, Colcci, Maria Bonita, and leading designers such as Herchcovitch, Reinaldo Lourenco and Ronaldo Fraga.

The Brazilian city's place alongside New York, Paris and Milan as a fashion capital has also demonstrated Brazil's growing economic power.

Latin America's biggest economy, ranked 10th in the world, is currently expanding at nine percent on an annual basis -- almost as much as the global champion China.

The event meanwhile seeks to also promote Brazil's lagging textile industry.

The spring 2012 collection will arrive at Sao Paulo's second fashion week this year held in June, a perennial favorite for showcasing Brazil's famed bikini beachware.

A sequel to Tere Bin Laden

Grapevine has it that Abhishek Sharma's debut Tere Bin Laden, starring Pakistani popstar Ali Zafar, will soon have a sequel.

According to a reliable source Abhishek Sharma is quietly working on it. They say Ali Zafar will jointly produce the film with Pooja Shetty.

Sharma doesn't deny the story but maintains a diplomatic stance and says, "It's a possibility but I am not sure when is it going to happen.

Pooja, Aarti and I feel that only if the sequel is better than the original, will we make it. Right now I'm working on a fresh script.

After SRK Berlin hosts Aamir

Indian cinema fans in Europe are basking in the company of Khan after Khan and they can't believe their luck. First, it was Bollywood heartthrob Shah Rukh Khan who spent three months in Berlin and now Aamir Khan arrives here early next month .

Aamir will be here as a member of the international jury of the 61st Berlinale that opens Feb 10.

"It's not that we are in the habit of collecting Khans. But we greatly admire the work of both Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan and are totally excited that Aamir will be with us this year," Dorothee Wenner, Berlinale's special representative for Indian cinema, told IANS.

Wenner says the festival has admired Aamir as a producer and actor for many years and has been trying to get him to participate in the Berlinale for a long time.

"Of course, it is not enough to want Aamir in our midst. It is about schedules and whether he is free from work to be part of the Berlinale. The logistics were always a problem. Aamir's work schedule did not allow him to be part of the Berlinale earlier. We are very happy that he is with us this year," Wenner said.

Festival director Dieter Kosslick saw Aamir's "Peepli Live" at the last Berlinale and liked the film so much that Wenner was asked to work overtime to make sure that Aamir participated in the event this year.

"I think it is great that such a versatile filmmaker is on the Berlinale jury. He knows every aspect of filmmaking, from acting, to directing and, of course, producing. I hope he will stay in that last role in the coming years because it means we can look forward to more unusual and surprising Hindi films. Also, if you look at the way he promotes his projects, I would want him as a producer if I were to make a film," Gerlinde Seitner from the Austrian Film Institute told IANS.

It is Wenner who first introduced Shah Rukh to audiences here and now she is very happy to host Aamir. Shah Rukh first participated in the Berlinale with "Om Shanti Om" in 2008.

Berliners still recall how Shah Rukh had stopped traffic in the German capital with his charming ways. He was again at the Berlinale in 2010 for the world premiere of his last film "My Name Is Khan" and spent the last three months of the last year filming for Farhan Akhtar's "Don 2", which is partly shot in Berlin.

Berliners are thrilled that one Khan has barely left the city when Aamir will soon be with them.

The Bollywood participation at this year's Berlinale includes the world premiere of "7 Khoon Maaf". It has been selected for screening in the Panorama special section that picks cinema on the basis of innovative narrative styles and unusually critical images of society. Audiences will watch the film in the company of director Vishal Bharadwaj, producer Ronnie Srewvalla and leading lady Priyanka Chopra.

Priyanka fans look forward to her return to Berlin after having feasted on her presence just a few months ago when she was in the city shooting for "Don 2".

Another Indian film is "Gandu" by Kaushik Mukherjee and Om Puri's "West is West" will also be screened.

Award winning Shekhar Kapur will bring no film to the festival but he will join a panel for discussions with production designer Alex Mcdowell and others on "Play as Process: World building and New Ways to Imagine".

Berlinale is one of the most prestigious film festivals and the international jury led this year by Italian actress Isabella Rossellini is the last word on which lucky film director gets to take home the Golden and Silver Bears at the end of the 11-day gala which concludes Feb 20.

The other members on the international jury along with Aamir are producer Jan Chapman, actress Nina Hoss, director Guy Maddin, costume designer Sandy Powell and Iranian director Jafar Panahi.

Dont marry Devgn to Saifeena

While one thought that Ajay Devgn coming solo on Karan Johar's Koffee With Karan might turn out to be damp squib, Devgn has conversely turned out to be an absolute shocker.

In a statement, which threw Karan Johar almost off his chair, Devgn looked straight into Karan's eye and said that Bebo and Saif should not tie the knot.

The story goes that Karan was in his favourite 'Rapid Fire Round', when Devgn blurted out that Saif and Kareena should not marry. What exactly happened? "Well, Karan asked Ajay to render some piece of marital advice to Saif and Kareena.

Without batting an eyelid, Ajay said, 'Don't get married'. If it wasn't a 'Rapid Fire Round' Karan would have definitely probed why Devgn holds this opinion about Saif's and Kareena's future," says our source.

Is that statement going to remain in the episode? Said the source, "Why not? That's quite a statement, isn't it?"
But knowing Karan to be a curious cat, we wouldn't be surprised if he asked Ajay why he said that about Saif and Kareena.

What is surprising is that the advice of not to marry has come from a man who himself is rather happily married to KJo's good friend.

According to a friend of Devgn, the statement was made in good fun. "Woh usne masti mein bola hoga," he said.

Devgn, Kareena and Saif remained unavailable for comment. Ditto for Fazila Allana, managing director of SOL, which produces the show

SRK Madhuri to perform at Filmfare Awards

The red carpet has been laid out, the stage has been set and the night is finally here, when the shiniest of the stars will head towards Yashraj Studios in Mumbai at the most awaited 56th Idea Filmfare Awards.

Like every year, Filmfare Awards this time too has a special attraction that will have guests and audiences in awe. The award night brings together the gorgeous actress Madhuri Dixit and the awesome Shah Rukh Khan together to perform on some of their most loved numbers together.

The two stars have been taking time out from their 'Don 2' and 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa' schedules to rehearse for their act. The two are set to perform on a few songs from their film 'Dil Toh Pagal Hai' and 'Devdas'.

A source from the sets of Jhalak... revealed, "Madhuri mam is so happy and excited about her Filmfare act with Shah Rukh. They both are great friends and they had a great time catching up during their preparations. Madhuri mam revealed that they will be dancing on songs from DTPH and Devdas. It's going to be a delight and all of us at Jhalak are looking forward to it."

It's no news that Madhuri and Shah Rukh are very fond of each other. While the lady maintains that SRK is the best co-star she has ever worked with, for Khan, Madhuri remains the one and only Bollywood diva.

The great bond between the two actors has also transformed into a wonderful chemistry on screen and we are sure, watching them come together on the stage for 56th Idea Filmfare Awards will be a treat no one will want to miss. The award will be held on 29th January, 2011 in Mumbai and will be aired on Sony Television on 6th February, 2011.

Bipasha John and I are a boring couple

There were rumours that John Abraham and Bipasha Basu were no longer a couple. They didn't attend social dos together, and there were rising speculations. However, Bipasha was quick to come to the forefront and rubbish the rumours, claiming that she and John were very much together.

When we got in touch with Bipasha, she joked, "The public must've got bored of us. We have become a boring couple. We are not giving the media any drama. I guess the only time John and I will make news is when we hold hands and jump off a cliff. That'll be melodramatic. Till then these break-up and make up rumours are commonplace."

John Abraham will next be seen in the movie 'Force', while Bipasha is shooting for Abaas-Mustan's thriller 'Players' in New Zealand.

Veena and Ashmit to sweat it out

Alleged love-birds Ashmit Patel and Veena Malik are going to paint the town red at a cyclothon being held at Nashik in February.

Veena who had to leave the country in a hurry because her VISA was expiring will return to Mumbai to be with Ashmit a couple of days before the event, so that she can practise with him and build her stamina.

She might also stay back for Valentine's Day

I'd said 'Dhobi Ghat' isn't for everyone: Aamir

Actor-filmmaker Aamir Khan isn't one bit surprised with the extreme reactions that his latest project "Dhobi Ghat" has been inviting. While a lot of young crowd can't find a connect with the film, it is being critically acclaimed in film circles.

"I can see that the film has evoked extreme responses... as I had expected actually. Well, I had tried my best to say that this film is not for everyone," Aamir posted on his Facebook page Tuesday.

"Dhobi Ghat" is Aamir's wife Kiran Rao's directorial debut. With a mix cast comprising Aamir, one-film-old Prateik Babbar and newcomers Monica Dogra and Kriti Malhotra, the movie narrates the story of four individuals with distinct backgrounds.

Aamir is overwhelmed with the response of those who have appreciated the movie.

"For those of you who the film has touched so deeply...K (Kiran) and I are so happy. Thank you for your overwhelming response, it has been most rewarding. So happy that the film connected so deeply with some of you. That is how it has been for us too. Thank you," he added.

When Susanne kissed Hrithik in London...

Hrithik Roshan was in London recently to unveil his Madame Tussauds wax statue. He was their with his entrie family. Of course, his sons were mesmerised by their father's close-to-real-life statue, and were confused of finding 'two daddies'.

However, it was wife Susanne who was overwhelmed with joy. As soon as the statue was unveiled, she went by its side and gently kissed it on the cheek. "That was a sweet gesture," said an on-looker, "but then she has the real Hrithik all to herself."

Hrithik, about the ocassion said, "It was a special moment for all of us. Tears wouldn't stop running down my eyes. I am thankful that I have done something and made my family proud. My sons were excited, my wife overjoyed, my father proud, and I was simply stunned."

Well, kudos to this Roshan who stands tall and solid at Madame Tussauds.

SRKs Pakistani visitor

Shah Rukh Khan is going to have a Pakistani visitor soon, and she is pretty close to his heart .

The person we are talking about is his first cousin Noor Jehan. Noor Jehan is Shah Rukh Khan's chacha's (paternal uncle) daughter who lives in Peshawar, Pakistan. And she is planning to come down to Mumbai and live with her superstar brother Shah Rukh for a few days. The last time this brother-sister duo met was way back in 1997 when she visited Mumbai. That time she stayed in the Khan house for almost a month.

After she returned to Pakistan, she gradually lost touch with her Khan brother, but managed to get his personal number again. It's an interesting way in which she got SRK's number. Anil Kapoor's father Surinder Kapoor was visiting his relatives who live in Pakistan, when he happened to meet Noor Jehan. Noor requested for Shah Rukh's number, Surinder Kapoor got in touch with his son Anil Kapoor and numbers were exchanged. Noor Jehan is now looking forward to her trip to Mumbai after fourteen long years and has already shopped for Shah Rukh Khan.

Well, SRK, too, seems to be excited about this. After all, spreading love is his new mantra, and it is all about loving your family for SRK

Asin for Abhishek

False speculations claim that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has refused a film opposite her hubby Abhishek but the truth is that she was never approached for the project and in fact sources associated with the makers of the movie, Vipul Shah,

tell us that it is South Indian hottie Asin Thottumkal who is being wooed to be roped in for the film.

Earlier, they were apparently looking to cast Katrina Kaif but she had date issues.

Asin, who has worked with Vipul earlier in the box-office dud London Dreams, is quite keen to take it up

Directors glad Peepli out of Oscars

Mahmood Farooqui, the co-director of "Peepli [Live]" says he has been attending the Jaipur Literature Festival since four years.

"It has grown enormously," he says, adding, "If authors to the likes of JM Coetzee and Orhan Pamuk attend the festival, it automatically becomes a big hit." Questions obiously moved on to "Peepli" after that, and though Mahmood didn't want to reveal what his next project is, he raved about Delhi.

"After "Peepli", life has been normal. We stay in a protected environment where we get our own space and manage to stay away from the pressure of the film fraternity in Mumbai," he says. Interestingly, Mahmood says he and his wife, Anusha Rizvi, were happy when they learnt that the film, India's official entry to the Oscars this year, is out of the Oscar race.

"It's okay, good actually, that the movie is out of the Oscars, else the pressure and expectations would've doubled," he says. "The film is for Indians and local people.

We've received immense appreciation from the academicians, critics and authors, so getting out of the Oscar race is not a grave issue. So, is his next a masala film? "You must know, I'd love to make a movie like Dabangg," he says.

I did movies for Kareena Shahid

Shahid Kapoor, who turns 30 a month later, says that he's done movies in the past because his girlfriend was in it, but not anymore

You turn 30 next month. How different are you from the time you entered Bollywood seven years ago?
Thank you for reminding me (smiles), but it hasn't really sunk in yet. I really believe that the best years of my life are starting now. I've worked enough now to feel at ease with what I am and who I am. Also, God has been very kind. I've done some very good work, and whether or not my films do well, I always get offered good work.

The work comes because of luck or hard work?
I feel very proud of the fact that I have pretty much done all of it on my own. When I look back, I feel fortunate to be where I am. In this profession, it's not easy to make it on your own as it's very unpredictable, and has its ups and downs. It becomes easier when you are from the industry, but my father, even though an actor, was very much away from it. So, I wasn't exposed to people. My beginning was very humble.

You had no advantage then and struggled like any other person would?
Oh yes. I believe I've made a lot of mistakes. I have done some things right but I have committed a lot of mistakes. But even after making those mistakes, to be where I am, I am fortunate. So, am really happy doing what I am doing and I have survived 7 years, and am hoping to survive another 17, probably 20 years, and do work that I am proud of. In fact, it's in the recent past that I've done work that I'm really proud of, actually in the last 3-4 years, that I am doing work that I like, love, enjoy, and am proud of. Till then, I was finding my own identity. It's a very interesting phase, the best years from a work point of view are yet to come and the best years from a personal point of view are yet to come, and I think I am my own person now and I am comfortable with who I am. I think it's only when you are comfortable with who you are that you can have stability in your personal space or in any relationship.

Yes, we've noticed that you are now quite comfortable being spotted with a certain someone who you are being seen with. You also said that in a recent interview, right?
The question that was posed was that the media is linking you with people and you're not responding, and my answer was that I would never be governed by what the media says about my personal life because it would be a very restricted and scary place to be in. I will live my life the way that I do and I've learnt that it's a part of the profession and that things will be written about you and people would want to speculate. And I am not going to get scared or get worried about that and not live my life. I think that I am answerable to the people that I am answerable to and not to the media as such regarding my personal life. I think professionally, there's a huge amount of interaction happening with people...

Yes, you are less uptight now.
Yes, everyone tells me that. You know, I was very scared and very shy and people thought I was uptight, maybe it came across like that and I am very sorry if it did. Abhi toh I know everybody in the media, so I have a personal equation with people, and I have reached that point of comfort where I can open up and say what I feel and not feel any pressure. There used to be a point at which I used to feel a lot of pressure maybe because I was very new and I was still finding my ground, professionally. And it was very upsetting to constantly answer about your personal life. Then one day I just decided that I am not going to answer, write what you want. Life became a lot simpler after that and I think it became simpler for everybody, even for the media and for me.

What mistakes were you referring to earlier?
Lots of mistakes ya... I had no experience, so I used to do films for different reasons. At times I would do a film because I was excited about working with a certain director, sometimes I would be insecure about sitting at home, sometimes because my girlfriend (We assume he means Kareena!) was in it, different reasons, sometimes even because people used to tell me to.

You did movies because your girlfriend was in it?
Ya, and I am very honest about it. Sometimes I did a movie because everyone told me that you must do this film and you cannot say no to these people and then over time I realised that you know success is really periodic. It'll keep changing. What matters is satisfaction. And what's most important is to find success where you are happy and not run after it. So, I stopped. Three or four years ago I stopped running... of course, it's most important in this profession to be successful. But the idea should not be to run after that. Do work that you believe in and that makes you happy. That's what I am doing right now – trying to work with likeminded people, trying to work with people who I think I can talk to about films , who I think think similarly.

No emotional decisions anymore?
I wouldn't say those were emotional decisions, I just think there was lack of experience, so I was trying everything. Acha yaar aisa bhi try kar lete hain... waisa bhi try kar lete hain... Then, it's only over a period of time that you discover yourself as an actor and the person, which I think I have in the last few years. So, I feel comfortable now taking decisions.

You struggled because you were Pankaj Kapoor's son?
Maybe even worse because there were more expectations and I think when you are Pankaj Kapoor's son, everyone's like yaar isko acting toh aani chahiye. I had no advantage of getting a free launch or anything.

You came without a free launch, but were declared a superstar in the making. Unfortunately, you've always been a step or two behind that title...
That's ok, I don't live my life by titles. I feel terrible about the comparisons with everybody because I feel I am really undeserving of being compared to someone like a Shah Rukh Khan or Aamir Khan or any of these people who have had such achievements. There's a long way for me to go and I don't want that pressure on me, frankly. Like I said, it's not easy when you don't have anyone backing you.

Even without the backing, have you achieved everything you wanted to by the time you are 30?
I have a lot more than what I had expected. But there's too much more that I need to do and I am ready to work day and night for it. I remember, Will Smith said this one very beautiful sentence, which for me has become my mantra. I was watching his interview sometime after "Hancock", when he was being touted as the biggest star in Hollywood and that's very surprising with actors like Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt around and he said, "You can be better looking than me, you can have a better body that me, you can be a better actor than me but when you run with me on the treadmill, I will outrun you." That was very beautiful, he said that I work harder than anyone else and that's what makes me what I am. That's my mantra – I'm ready to work harder than anyone.

Kings Speech crowned head of Oscar nominees

BEVERLY HILLS: British historical drama "The King's Speech" was crowned the Oscar frontrunner Tuesday, earning 12 nominations for the multibillion-dollar film industry's top honors.

The understated royal film starring Colin Firth as a stammering King George VI beat rivals including "True Grit" and Facebook film "The Social Network," in nods for the 83rd annual Academy Awards to be held February 27.

"True Grit," the Coen brothers' take on the classic Western, garnered 10 nominations while eight each went to hi-tech thriller "Inception" and "The Social Network," which had been tipped as Oscar favorite.

"Your head spins when you hear the news," Firth told the Today Show after the nominations were announced, joking that his career had gone into orbit since he was first nominated for best actor Oscar last year.

"It's almost like I was fired out of a cannon this time last year and I'm still orbiting Pluto,' he joked, adding: "It's quite extraordinary."

Firth's rivals on the shortlist for the best actor Oscar are Javier Bardem for "Biutiful," Jesse Eisenberg in "The Social Network," James Franco in "127 Hours," and Jeff Bridges in "True Grit."

The British actor, who lost out to Bridges for best actor last year, joked when asked whether he would have to kneecap the "True Grit" star to prevent the same thing happening.

"Something has to be done," he quipped.

Best actress nods went to Annette Bening in "The Kids Are All Right," Nicole Kidman in "Rabbit Hole," Jennifer Lawrence in "Winter's Bone," Natalie Portman in "Black Swan" and Michelle Williams in "Blue Valentine."

"The King's Speech" won Oscar nods for best film, three acting categories, as well as for directing, editing, musical score, art direction, cinematography, costume design, sound mixing and original screenplay.

Firth, who won a Golden Globe earlier this month for his performance in the British movie, is widely tipped for a best actor at the Oscars show next month, the climax of Hollywood's annual awards season.

And Helena Bonham Carter, who plays his royal wife, was nominated for best supporting actress, while Geoffrey Rush, who plays the speech therapist who helps the king, was also nominated, for best supporting actor.

"That's the best thing about it, to be going together, to have the royal flush that's the most gratifying," Firth told the Today Show,

The British movie's Oscars nomination success was welcomed by the Stuttering Foundation, saying the film "has brought overwhelmingly positive attention to the plight of people who stutter.

"'The King's Speech' gives the stuttering community a hero who inspires and a movie that promotes understanding and acceptance of the complexities of stuttering," said its president, Jane Fraser.

Facebook blockbuster "The Social Network" had been tipped to earn the most Oscar nominations, after winning four awards at the Golden Globes on January 16.

But industry observers had noted that the British royal movie could do better at the Oscars because it is better suited to the tastes of the 6,000-plus members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The British movie also got a small boost over the weekend when it won best picture award at the Producers Guild of America awards.

The Oscar nominations were announced by last year's supporting-actress winner Mo'Nique, joined by the Academy president Tom Sherak.

The 10 films nominated for best picture Oscar were: "Black Swan," "The Fighter," "Inception," "The Kids Are All Right," "The King's Speech," "127 Hours," "The Social Network," "Toy Story 3," "True Grit," and "Winter's Bone."

Nominated for best animated film -- an increasingly high-profile award as technology helps create stunning blockbuster family movies -- were "How to Train Your Dragon," "The Illusionist" and "Toy Story 3.

Twilight among top flop movies nominated

LOS ANGELES: The "Sex and the City" sequel and the final installment of teen vampire series "Twilight" were top of the flops, as nominees for Hollywood's Oscars spoof -- the Razzies -- were revealed Monday.

Renowned Hollywood actors and actresses Jennifer Aniston, Ashton Kutcher, Robert Pattinson, Miley Cyrus and Barbra Streisand were also nominated for their parts in 2010 major studio productions by the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation, which organizes the annual salute to the worst of the worst.

Last year, "most of what Hollywood released was either a remake, a 'reboot,' a 're-imagining'... or an outright rip-off. In other words, it was a banner year for only one of Tinsel Town’s best-known award shows... the one that dis-honors Worst Achievements n Film," said the foundation.

The nominees for worst picture were big-budget "Clash Of The Titans," "The Last Airbender," "Sex & The City 2," "Twilight Saga: Eclipse" and "Vampires Suck," for the awards show set for February 26 -- the eve of the prestigious Oscars.

The foundation singled out "Last Airbender" director M. Night Shyamalan -- a "repeat offender," according to a statement released alongside the nominations.

"In addition to Worst Director and Worst Picture, the film is up for Worst Remake, Worst Screenplay, Worst Screen Couple/Ensemble (the entire cast) and a brand-new Razzie category for 2010, Worst Eye-Gouging Mis-Use of 3-D," said the foundation.

Up for worst actor was comedian/musician Jack Black for his role in "Gulliver's Travels," action star Gerard Butler in the weakly received "The Bounty Hunter," Ashton Kutcher for two critical flops he made last year -- "Killers" and "Valentine's Day" -- and for "Twilight: Eclipse," the two leading actors Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson.

The cast of "bling-obsessed superslick chick flick Sex and the City 2" -- Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon -- all got nods for the worst actress nomination.

In the worst screen couple/ensemble category, the foundation jumped all over terrible chemistry in supposedly romantic movies, such as Aniston and Gerald Butler in "The Bounty Hunter," and the entire cast of actors in "Twilight: Eclipse" and "The Last Airbender.

Facebook film tipped as Oscars nods unveiled

LOS ANGELES: Facebook movie "The Social Network" hopes to make more friends Tuesday when this year's Oscar nominations are to be announced, as the climax to Hollywood's annual awards season looms.

But rivals vying for Academy Awards glory include British historical drama "The King's Speech," which many say could come good at the Oscars despite its disappointing Golden Globes showing earlier this month.

Movies also likely in the running for Oscars awards next month include Globes winners "Black Swan" and "The Fighter," lesbian parenting film "The Kids are Alright" and the Coen brothers' update of the Western classic "True Grit."

Hollywood watchers claim one of the safest Oscar bets is Colin Firth for best actor as the stammering King George VI, while Natalie Portman is tipped for best actress for her role in ballet-themed drama "Black Swan."

Jeff Bridges also has a buzz behind him for what would be his second Oscar in a row for "True Grit," while actress tips include Julianne Moore and Annette Bening from "The Kids Are All Right," or Nicole Kidman for "Rabbit Hole."

The best director shortlist is expected to include "Social Network" director David Fincher, Tom Hooper for "The King's Speech" and Christopher Nolan for thriller "Inception."

The nominations for the Oscars, by far the most prestigious of Tinseltown's awards season, will be unveiled at 5:30 am (1330 GMT) on Tuesday, launching the final straight toward the February 27 Academy Awards show.

"The Social Network" grabbed four Golden Globes, including Best Picture, on January 17, in what is traditionally seen as an indicator of success at the Academy Awards.

The Facebook movie, about how Mark Zuckerberg founded the social networking site, also won best director Globe for Fincher as well as best screenplay and best score.

"The King's Speech" scored only one Globe -- best actor for Firth -- while there were two for boxing movie "The Fighter" and one for "Black Swan," with Portman for best actress.

But industry observers note that the British royal movie could do better at the Oscars because it is better suited to the tastes of the 6,000-plus members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The British movie, about King George VI's battle with a stammer, also got a small boost over the weekend when it won best picture award at the Producers Guild of America awards.

The Los Angeles Times noted that, for the past two decades, the Producers Guild of America results have correctly forecast the Oscar best picture 13 times.

"There's a good chance that 'The King's Speech' will score the most Oscar bids," said the newspaper's awards-watching correspondent, predicting as many as 11 nods for the British movie.

The producers' show was the latest in a string of ceremonies that make up the annual awards season. Others still to come include the Screen Actors Guild prizes on January 30.

But for insiders, the Oscars are the multi-billion-dollar industry's real deal, and much of Hollywood will therefore be up early Tuesday for the pre-dawn nominations announcement.

On the eve of the Oscars nominations, nominees for Hollywood's Oscars spoof the Razzies were revealed Monday, with the "Sex and the City" sequel and the final installment of teen vampire series "Twilight" top of the flops.

Jennifer Aniston, Ashton Kutcher, Robert Pattinson, Miley Cyrus and Barbra Streisand were also nominated by the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation, which organizes the annual salute to the worst of the worst.

Veena, the Hero from Pakistan

Veena Malik, a Pakistani actress who faced conservative censure for appearing on an Indian reality TV show, has credited the "liberal people" of her country for her emergence as a "hero" after she defended herself on a news channel.

"Credit goes to all the liberal people of Pakistan. I have been receiving messages and phone calls from the fashion industry and other people from all walks of life, telling me that I am their hero. I had to come on television and defend myself because no one else was defending me," the Express Tribune quoted Veena, as saying in an exclusive interview.

When asked about what she achieved by participating in the Indian reality show, she candidly replied: "Before I went to " Bigg Boss," people showed videos of women being publicly beaten up by men to represent the condition of women in Pakistan. I showed the world that Pakistani women are not the ones that get beaten up; I showed that a Pakistani woman wears modern clothes at home and at the same time she can cook and serve others. The culture of Pakistan is not limited to wearing shalwar kameez and this changed the negative perceptions attached to Pakistani women."

If presented with an opportunity, Veena said, she would like to change the "double standards and hypocrisy" in Pakistan.

On being asked if Pakistan had to host "Bigg Boss" and she had to handle its affairs, who she would choose as its contestants, Veena named former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf, politicians Sheikh Rashid, Jamsheed Dasti, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Shiv Sena[member], actresses Meera, Aishwarya Rai, Nargis, and pop artiste Britney Spears.

Talking about her future plans, she revealed: "I have a lot of offers from India, USA, UK and Australia. I am going to focus of television mainly and would do films only if I get good offers. I am not going to do some typical 'B' or 'C 'class Bollywood films."

In her message to the people of Pakistan, Veena said: "The youth is my hope. We have to open our minds and change things around us. I am sure the youth of my country will support me wherever I go. And wherever I go, I am going to represent the entertainment industry of my country.

Miss Pakistan World supports Veena

Miss Pakistan World Annie Rupani Sunday came out in support of Pakistani actress Veena Malik who is under fire from the Muslim clergy in her country for getting too close with Indian actor Ashmit Patel during her participation in Bigg Boss-4 in India.

Slamming Mufti Abdul Qawi who said in a TV interview Friday that the actor has "insulted Pakistan and Islam" by her behaviour, the Houston-based Miss Pakistan World said the mullahs have no right to pass judgment on Veena Malik.

"I fully support Veena Malik for standing up for her beliefs and values. Though unfortunate, Veena Malik's lashing out may be the only way to make her voice heard. Women are constantly being suppressed under the name of Islam, when in reality, Islam promotes the equality of men and women," the 21-year-old Boston university student, who was crowned Miss Pakistan World in Toronto in August, told IANS.

The Karachi-born beauty said: "Currently in Pakistan, a high percentage of women are abused, beaten, raped, and killed, yet men are not being held responsible for their actions. Pakistani women's literacy rates are rising, leading to their outward participation in society."

But clerics cannot stand these women, she said, who are becoming "strong-willed and passionate, and pushing the bounds of traditional norms. They are trying to project this as a religious issue, but in reality, it is only cultural. Any woman has the right to choose her friends or husband, and Pakistan being a democratic country allows any one to marry regardless of religion. So Veena has not broken any laws or the constitution of Pakistan".

She said the bold actress has shown that Pakistani women are "beginning to push past their status quo and the culture is starting to deal with consequences. But it will take some time. Veena Malik has shown India that Pakistani women are not weak and submissive".

Calling Malik's criticism a symptom of the radicalisation of Pakistani society, she said: "As the world is globalising and western ideas and beliefs are permeating all societies, some Muslims react by clinging tighter to their religious roots and condemning western ideas.

"Radicals are reacting out of fear and in defence of their religious and cultural background, but liberals like Veena should hold strong to their beliefs and help others to understand how Islam is compatible with these beliefs and ideas."

Asked if Veena Malik should again go to Indian shows despite all the turmoil her Bigg Boss entry created, she said: "As I said, Veena did not commit any wrong actions on the show. Therefore, she should continue to proudly represent Pakistan on Big Boss. She has changed the radical face of Pakistan in front of India. Not all Pakistanis are terrorists or support terrorist acts. And India knows that now."

Added her mentor and Miss Pakistan World pageant pioneer Sonia Ahmed: "Veena Malik has now become an icon for progressive and modern Pakistan women. She is one of the very few women who have stood up to the clerics."

Abhishek's birthday surprise

Abhishek Bachchan will spend the next 40-days in New Zealand shooting for Abbas Mustan's Players, the Hindi inspiration of The Italian Job.

Due to her own work commitments Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has not been able to accompany Abhishek on this outdoor. However, one hears that Ash was making secret plans to join AB Junior at the end of the month.

A source says, "It is Abhishek's birthday on February 5, and Ash has planned a surprise for her husband."
When asked if this was true, Abhishek said, "Listen, I know I am spending my birthday with the sheep in New Zealand. I also know that I will definitely work for part of the day. I have always preferred to work on my birthday." The superstar adds, "I have heard something about my wife planning a trip to join me later this month. But honestly if she is coming,

it will not be a surprise because I like to be informed about her movements on a day-to-day basis. If she gets on a plane to NZ, I will know about it even before she boards the flight."

The actor admits that the events on February 5, may turn out to be a surprise because Ash may not tell him what she has in mind. "However, her travel plans will definitely be known to me. There can be no surprises on that count.

Hrithik's kids get confused

Hrithik Roshan arrived from London yesterday afternoon. The media thronged the airport to receive the actor who has been 'waxed' at Madame Tussauds.

One hears that Duggu's boys- Hridhaan and Hrehaan, who dressed formally for the unveiling in London, stared at the waxwork in complete awe. Initially, they couldn't quite understand how they suddenly had two daddys for company.

But of course, eventually they tugged at their real father impatiently because they felt people had fussed enough over the statue.

SRK, Big B & Dench to work together

It cannot get any bigger or better than this! Two icons of Bollywood and a heavyweight Hollywood A-lister are coming together to support the cause of education among the underprivileged in India.

Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Judi Dench will be working in tandem to promote education among the low-income groups of the country with the sole aim that when these kids become bread-winners, they will have a better life and in turn provide better opportunities to their children.

And bringing these top actors together is none other than the Oscar-winning sound engineer Resul Pookutty. His foundation has been silently working towards bettering the socio-economic conditions of the poverty struck groups but he believes that the time has come to go top gear. "It is unimaginable that even in the 21st century there is rampant illiteracy in India. We are making our presence felt in the world and this aspect is something that should definitely be tackled. Along with economy and cultural boom, India should not be spoken as a country that is also illiteracy stricken," Resul told TOI.

He added, "Without Amitabh Bachchan's blessing, my project would have not started at all. He has helped me with funds and goodness. It is time to implement new things. Just when I was planning different things, Judi Dench came to my rescue. She had spent eight weeks in the country while shooting her Hollywood project in Rajasthan. She saw the rich and the poor and was touched by the work that we were doing."

According to Resul, Judi will play a very active role in the project. "Judi has told me to draw plans and just tell her what is to be done and she will try her level best to do more than what has been asked of her," he said. SRK's inclusion certainly bolsters the plans further. "I have met Shah Rukh while working on his movie Ra.One. I told him all about our charity that is being supported by two big luminaries and he was more than keen to support. SRK is a silent benefactor and he too will be with us in this cause," Resul added.

It's divine intervention

Having a godfather in the industry is one thing, but having God with you is another, says actress Aditi Sajwan, whose roles on TV have always been closely connected with Lord Krishna.

Even though she started her career Meri Doli Tere Angana, she got noticed in Jai Shree Krishna and later in Meera.

"I should indeed thank God for the fabulous break that he's given me in my career," says Aditi, who in real life too is a devout follower of Krishna. "Since childhood, I've worshipped him. Little did I know that I'd play the role of his mother and also of his doting devotee Meera," she smiles. Talking about her role in Jai Shree Krishna, Aditi says, "It was a huge role and naturally a big challenge.

At first I wasn't too keen, but thanks to Moti Sagarji's persuasion, I took it up. And today I'm so glad I did," says the young actress, who's now looking forward to more youthful roles that would suit her age.

Urmila to replace Mallika In 'Chak Dhoom'

Mallika Sherawat's television stint was rather short-lived. The actress, who was judging dance reality show " Chak Dhoom Dhoom", has been shown the exit door by the channel and Urmila Matondkar will replace her .

"Mallika's tantrums were increasing day by day. We used to shoot two episodes in a single day and she used to become very cranky. She used to keep cribbing about less time for lunch and the amount of working hours. In fact, she was always ready to rush home," a source from the channel Colors told IANS.

"Even the production team had a hard time dealing with her. So, finally the decision of replacing her was taken," added the source.

Now Urmila will step into Mallika's shoes and will judge the show along with Terance Lewis and Jaaved Jaaferi. She is expected to start shooting in the coming week.

The show that went on air Jan 14, is a competition between group dancers from India and abroad.

New girl in Krrish 3

Lakshmi Manchu, daughter of Telugu superstar Mohan Babu, is being considered by Rakesh Roshan for Krrish 3, opposite Hrithik, if sources are to be believed.

Sources from the industry confirm that Roshan Sr is in touch with Lakshmi for an important role in the film, which had reportedly been offered to Kangna Ranaut earlier.

If Lakshmi, who has studied theatre from the US, is finalised, she'll be one of the first Telugu girls to do a big Bollywood project.

Asins desperate for a PR

Asin Thottumkal, the pretty girl from Kerala who missed the Bollywood bus is now desperate for a PR agency to handle her work.

Asin has Ready with Salman Khan releasing in May this year. However, she may or may not make the required impact because she has been left behind by Salman's

Dabangg heroine Sonakshi Sinha who is the current hot rage; and by girls like Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor who are more in the news than Asin. In a bid to make up for lost time, Asin has been desperately hunting for a PR agency to handle her portfolio.

Sensible girl. Now that she is ready with a definite game plan, her publc image should improve.

Hrithik shoots back at Salman

On his 'happy' birthday a few days ago, Hrithik Roshan was truly exultant.

He seemed to be blissfully content and in a mood to forgive and forget, which is why he reacted to Salman Khan calling him a "child", in an oddly calm tone. Hrithik said, "Salman must have said it with affection. And I don't think there is anything wrong in being a child," (Mumbai Mirror, January 10, 2011).

But things are not always what they seem on the surface. Hrithik's passivity was, as it appears, only a garb. Recently, Hrithik and his wife Sussanne shot with Karan Johar for an episode of Koffee with Karan.

On the show, Hrithik shot back at Sallu by saying, "Salman thinks that the world is conspiring against him, but that's not true. We all love him." He further added, "I don't want to use this as a medium to comment on Salman."

Naturally, a few things between the two actors are still not over and buried. We wonder what Sallu has to say about Hrithik's latest comment but unfortunately, both Duggu and he did not revert on this. Call it instinct, but Sallu just might.

Aashmit, Veena made love in Bigg Boss

Ashmit Patel and Veena Malik made love in the Bigg Boss house, claims an ex-contestant. No LoC here...

Reality just got more lurid on TV. Ashmit patel, whose only claim to fame has been riding on getting cosy with women on camera (remember his MMS episode?), allegedly had sex with Veena Malik on "Bigg Boss 4", if an ex-contestant is to be believed. As if viewers weren't already fed up with an overdose of the Ashmit-Veena intimacy, here's a new twist to keep the tale alive.

An ex-contestant, on the condition of anonymity, spills the beans. "Most of the contestants were irked with all that Ashmit and Veena did in the house. Hum sab unke saath baith nahin paate thay. Everybody would feel awkward in their presence. Sirf gale milne jaisi sadharan baat nahin hoti thi. I remember, they were given the task to guard the diya kept near the swimming pool, and we saw them snuggling in the quilt. Us din zaroor kuch hua tha. And of what I've heard, many viewers felt the same. It was all so disgusting. One of the key reasons for my exit was their growing intimacy. I'd requested Bigg Boss to evict me from the show. I couldn't take it anymore."

But Ashmit, who calls this "an offshoot of people's overactive imagination", says he never got that close to Veena in the first place. "No, it didn't happen. I would have wanted something like that to happen, but I didn't have the inclination," says he (go figure!) Ashmit adds, "With cameras installed everywhere, how is it possible for anyone to make love? And now that the show is over, I have no chance. But I have only gained from these rumours."

Sakshi Pradhan too, quashes the allegation, but does admit she's heard about it. Sara Ali, however, doesn't understand the need to discuss the intimacy the duo shared. "Itna hauwaa kyun banaya jaa raha hai?" she asks.

This isn't the first time the inmates are being talked about for being involved in such an act. According to another ex-contestant, a similar incident happened, but not so unabashedly. "At least, when I participated, things didn't happen too openly. The washroom was seen as the safest place. Rahul Mahajan and an inmate got intimate. They made love," says the ex-contestant.

Sambhavana Seth, another ex-inmate, says, "Viewers need masala and the channels, higher TRPs. That's about it. At least, "Bigg Boss" puts forth the reality, whatever it may be."

That's her ride in 'Tanu Weds Manu'

True to her character who defies every perceived trait of a small town girl, National Award-winning actress Kangana Ranaut didn't shy from riding a heavy Bullet bike in her new romantic comedy 'Tanu Weds Manu'.

"Since Kangana plays a small town wild girl, we wanted her to do all those things that a typical small town girl would not think of doing. So, riding a bike was something that would have helped strengthen Tanu's character, so we bounced off the idea of Tanu riding a bike to Kangana and she was thrilled to do it," director Aanand L. Rai said.

A source said Kangana was nervous to shoot the scene as she was supposed to ride the bike with another actor riding pillion and rush full speed through crowded, narrow streets. This scene had the maximum re-takes.

"Kangana was shocked to know that she had to ride a bike in the narrow lanes of Kanpur as she was new to the concept of bike riding. The director first asked her to practice on a light bike, which she took weeks to master and then she was given the Bullet," said the source.

R Madhavan plays the male lead opposite Kangana in the film.

Toy Story 3' wins Golden Tomato Award

LOS ANGELES: "Toy Story 3" has received the Golden Tomato Award for the best-reviewed film of the year.

The award is presented annually by the website RottenTomatoes.com, which compiles reviews from critics to measure the percentage of favorable critiques.

"Toy Story 3" beat out "The Social Network," which got a positive-review score of 97 percent and took the Tomato in the drama category.

Other Golden Tomato winners announced Tuesday include the rebooted Western "True Grit," the Banksy documentary "Exit Through the Gift Shop" and "Last Train Home," a documentary about Chinese migrant workers.

Jackson death was homicide says LA coroner

LOS ANGELES: Michael Jackson's death was homicide due to incompetent medical care, a forensics expert said Tuesday at pre-trial hearings into manslaughter charges against the singer's personal doctor.

Christopher Rogers, head of forensic medicine for the Los Angeles County coroner's office, said the late pop icon was in generally good health when he died in June 2009.

Jackson's doctor Conrad Murray is accused of administering an overdose of the powerful sedative propofol while trying to help the over-tired singer to sleep in the run-up to a series of concerts in London.

Rogers said the star died of acute intoxication with propofol, which is usually used as an anaesthetic in hospital settings, and should not have been used to help Jackson sleep.

Testifying at the LA Superior Court, he said he would describe Jackson's death as homicide even if, as claimed by Murray, the singer had himself administered an extra dose of propofol while the doctor was out of the room.
