Salman Khan red eye correction for Ready

Anees Bazmee resorts to patchwork re-shoot of Ready. Salman Khan's eye infection is prominent in the first trailer, making him look not so macho

Last year, in October, while the shoot of Ready was on, Salman Khan would mostly be seen wearing sunglasses. He was suffering from a prominent eye infection. But it seems hiding his red eyes under dark shades wasn't enough.

The first trailer of Ready is out. And the eye infection is pretty visible. This has caused an unexpected murmur of anxiety among the film's team who had not anticipated Salman's eye infection to show up so aggressively on screen. The scenes might be re-edited.

The Ready script instead provided Salman with spectacles for the first time. But the specs had to come off for the action sequences. Those are the scenes where the swollen eyes show up. Says a source, "Salman wears a chashma for the first time on screen.

The decision to empower his eyes with spectacles was taken during the time when Salman suffered the eye infection. But the specs came off for the high-powered action sequences."

The Ready team's concern is about Salman's legion of fans who may not react well to the swollen eyes. Says a source, "Salman's fans always like to see him looking his best. We never expected this eye trouble to show up on screen."

Plans are now afoot to re-edit some of the scenes where the angry pouches under the eyes are not discernible. There's also talk of some patchwork shooting to replace the close-ups showing up Salman's infected eyes.

Director Anees Bazmee doesn't deny that the eye factor does surface in the film. "Yes, we are doing some patchwork shooting. During the shooting Salman did have some problem with his eye. But we thought we had got around that problem.

The thing is, Salman can't be looking anything but his best. His fans won't tolerate it.
